ConfigGen should have option to use CSV format

description

Background:
We currently use ConfigGen to generate multiple environment flavored web.config files.

Issue:
Because using Excel from Powershell is such a pain in the rear, other environment based values, used for configuring the environment (aka dev, test, uat, prod) for Application Pools, Cacls perms, etc.., must be input into a different CSV file. So we are stuck with 2 files for enviornment information,

Ask:
I would like to be able to use 1 CSV file for both ConfigGen, and system prep.
Give ConfigGen an option to read from a similarly formatted CSV file.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike,

Although I don't think the documentation has been updated, ConfigGen should already support .csv files for the settings.

I don't know the full details as it wasn't me who implemented this, but a sample of the .csv format is as follows:
MachineName,ConfigFilePath,Environment,CustomErrorMode
,,,
DevServer,App.Config,DEV,RemoteOnly
UatServer,App.Config,UAT,RemoteOnly
ProdServer,App.Config,PROD,On
,,,
MyWorkstation,App.Config,DEV,Off
,,,
Default,App.Config,DEV,Off
Does this do what you need it to? If not, let me know.

Thanks,

Rob

I'll give it a try, v0.3.2.11, was the last time I tried it, and I didn't see any comments alluding to it working since then.

Thanks!

I verified today that with version v1.0.4.1, CSV files work as expected.

Thank you!
